Trenton Jazz Band

The Jazz Band is an advanced ensemble that is run for the second and third trimesters. This ensemble is made up of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and a rhythm section (guitar, piano, bass, and drum-set). Students that play "non-standard" jazz instruments are encouraged to join! You will have the opportunity to play your main instrument (we are happy to arrange parts to include flute/clarinet) or perhaps learn a secondary instrument.

he band focuses on rehearsing and performing the various styles of jazz, R&B, swing, rock, fusion, etc. Time is also spent in the development and implementation of improvisation skills, along with the basic knowledge of music theory. During the musical, it will be required of some for the members to help to form the pit orchestra. This group performs in the community as well as at events and festivals like the Trenton Jazz Cafe, Zal Gaz Grotto, MSBOA State Jazz Festival, and Winter and Spring concerts. Participation in the Jazz Ensemble will result in mandatory rehearsals and performances.

If you are a student interested in joining the THS Jazz Band, it is strongly suggested that you plan out your 4-year high school schedule as a freshman to make plans to do so.
