Weather forecast looks very wet and rainy all day tomorrow (Thursday Nov 1) especially during the time we are supposed to perform. Therefore, I decided today that we will NOT perform at the LCA as originally planned as they have no indoor option for us. It's a bit of a bummer but nobody wants to get drenched performing or as a spectator.
THIS PROMPTED ME TO MAKE A LOAD/LEAVE TIME CHANGE - we will now be loading and leaving at 5:30 pm instead of 5 pm. No reason to leave so early if we aren't going to load any instruments, unload, warm up, prep, and perform. I will tell everyone in band class tomorrow as well. I will distribute tickets to the band kids when we arrive at the LCA. The plan is still to leave between the 2nd and 3rd period. ALSO: I got a call from Andy Greene's mom today. He has personally put a thank you to the Trenton HS Band for us on the jumbotron scoreboard during the game! Look for it!

The forecast for Thursday evening when we are scheduled to perform is for rain. Unfortunately, I was just told by the Red Wings that there is no possibility to move a performance indoors. While I won't make a decision until Thursday, if it's legitimately raining, we will NOT perform at all and will just go to the game. Nobody wants to stand in the rain to watch a band nor does anyone want to perform in the rain. If it's weather like at Cedar Point when we performed, we will still perform as that wasn't too bad. However, if it's actually RAIN and then we would have to go inside an ice rink for a few hours wet and cold, I'm not going to do that to the parents, fans, and especially the kids. Stay tuned - decision will be made on Thursday.
Busses load 4:45 pm
Performances 5:45-6:30 - start at Woodward/Service drive corner and end Chevy Plaza *in the event of rain, may be moved inside to concourse We will leave after 2nd period - approx 9 pm - and be back at THS approx 9:30 pm Dress: Blue and gold for Trenton night! Red Wings gear also appropriate. If you have a New Jersey Devils jersey, you can wear that since NJ Devils captain Andy Greene (THS Class of 2001) will be in town. Cedar Point: Dress warm and prepared (supposed to be low 50s and occasional showers); wear show shirt - we may be able to perform in them if the weather holds at noon. Jeans, any pants are fine. Athletic shoes ok. However, bring a jacket/coat/varsity jacket - if it's too cold to go just tshirts to perform (I bet it will be too cold), we will just wear street clothes and coats over show shirts.
ALSO: Our first trimester concert is on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5. It was scheduled months ago to be on a different date but we were bumped off of it due to other use of the auditorium. November 5 at 7 pm is our concert! Band, chorus, jazz combo Band photos will be taken during class on Thursday, Oct 25. I have attached copies of the forms as jpg files below. Paper copies are available in the band room.
While we aren't quite done with the marching activity yet, the field season is most likely over. Trenton will make the Oct 26 playoffs but most likely on the road if they would win even the first two games. We still have Cedar Point and the Red Wings this trimester plus the Christmas Parade on Sat, Dec. 1 as well as the final in-concert performance of Guys and Dolls at the Monday, Nov 5 concert @ 7pm
Homecoming was a bit wet and cold but nothing we couldn't overcome. Here's my favorite photo of that night - it's what we do in the THS Band....nice work, Max! There's a chance of showers tonight for Homecoming. It's also going to be a little chilly. PREP FOR THE WEATHER! We are still going to be in full uniforms with full pit and will do everything as planned. Forecasts don't say "RAIN" - they say a chance of showers. We aren't afraid of a few showers - the show must go on! : )
Reminder that all $$ for Cedar Point and/or Red Wings is due by Friday, Oct 19. Not many envelopes have been turned in as of yet - please be ahead of the deadline. We don't want to cancel either event due to students missing a deadline.
Monday, Oct 8 - adjusted schedule/pep rally 1:30/NO NIGHT PRACTICE
Tuesday, Oct 9 - regular day Wednesday, Oct 10 - Practice time changed from 7-8 pm due to College Night Thursday, Oct 11 - adjusted schedule/early release/Parent Teacher conferences Friday, Oct 12 - early release 10:30 am 5 pm - report to band room and get into uniforms 6 pm - homecoming parade 6:45 - pregame 7pm - game/halftime/POSTGAME FULL RUN OF GUYS and DOLLS I'm very proud of how much this band has worked. As we wind down the marching season, it's always fun to see the kids happy about a performance. They earned first place Class B, Best Music, and Best Auxiliary (Guard) awards but more than that, they know they did their very best and that hard work results in great things. Congrats, kids. |
