:Band room will be open (lobby doors) from 4;30-5:30 pm to get instruments if they weren't take home the night before.
Be at parade route by 5:30 pm Meet at Cherry St (one street up from Trenton Theater - same location as years previous) Parade starts at 6 pm BAND ROOM WILL NOT BE OPEN AFTER THE PARADE! ***Nutcracker going on in the auditorium and THS parking/traffic will be an issue at the time the parade is letting out!!! Lots of people in the ticket lobby as well so we will avoid the THS building after the parade completely.*** Take your instrument and equipment HOME after the parade. Dress for parade is blue/gold, varsity jackets, or dress Christmas-y warm. Light yourselves and your instrument up as much as you want! We will be using drumline LED lights and guard wings. Warm hats and even gloves (if you can still play using them) are all OK for this parade. TRENTON HS MARCHING BAND 2020 presents The show theme for next year's marching band was announced at the season-end pizza party on Monday. While the show details, visual plan, drill, and music is still being discussed, this is the set of music currently being planned (subject to change): Come Little Children from "Hocus Pocus" That Old Black Magic - version from the movie "Green Book" Evil Woman - Electric Light Orchestra Black Magic Woman - Santana Witchy Woman - The Eagles Theme from "Bewitched" - movie version/Steve Lawrence (swing version of TV show) Night on Bald Mountain - Mussorsky We've got eight months before any of this needs to be finalized so the music may be changed here and there to fit ever-developing show plans. Conceptually, we are going for a fun, Halloween type of witch theme with recognizable music and foot tapping, crowd pleasing music. We aren't looking to portray our witch theme as being dark or evil. If you've ever seen the 1960s TV show, "Bewitched", you know what I mean. Even "Hocus Pocus" has moments that are sort of dark - we won't be doing any of that. If you hear the music for the opener and seg 3 (below), you'll understand where we are going. Fun magic! Two special things are going to occur at Monday's pizza party. First, today I just received the band letters to distribute to rookies! Just in time! Any THS student (not the AMS kids yet) who completed the marching band season will receive their band varsity letter which can be sewn onto a varsity band jacket (Sportway, other places sell them if you want them). If a rookie is not at the party, I will make sure he/she receives it soon thereafter.
Also - I will be revealing the 2020 THSMB show theme and music at the party! Over 200 students in four ensembles - jazz band, chorus, concert band, and marching band - enjoyed a successful in-concert performance on Monday, Nov 4. Next performance events will be the Trenton Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7 at 6pm Downtown Trenton and the Solstice 2019 Music Department Concert and Talent Showcase on Wednesday, December 18 in the THS Auditorium. More info on both event coming soon.
